Whether you’re starting a project, slogging through the middle, or stretching for the finish, tap into momentum and a sense of joy with Writerly Play.
Writing a work of fiction or nonfiction is a complex undertaking. To finish well, you’ll need to strategize, problem-solve, and pace yourself through the project.
In your Writerly Play mentorship, I’ll serve as your story whisperer, transforming work into the best kind of play. Together, we’ll stumble across insights, bypass blocks, and add depth, texture, and energy to your storytelling. Best of all, with a thought partner to help you see your project and process from multiple vantage points, you’ll gain insight and personal growth that will fuel creative work far beyond this current project.

WHAT’S THE PLAN?
We’ll meet for a 20-minute video chat to discuss
Writing a novel is a complex undertaking, requiring motivation, creative and critical thinking skills, and perseverance. The confidence and skills developed through the process are enormous and will serve young writers in their creative, personal and academic lives. Many young writers need feedback, assistance with problem solving, and a mentor to help pace them through this long-term project.
Are you a young writer who is ready to write a novel? Do you know a young writer who is ready?
Naomi mentors a small set of private students through this process, meeting on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. Naomi’s fees are $100 for hour-long meetings, and $30 hourly for editorial reading, as needed. If you’re interested in working on a long-term novel project, send the following to Naomi by email.
1. Five-Ten pages of your manuscript (or the first chapter.) If you haven’t started the novel yet, send a five-ten page writing sample.
2. A letter describing yourself as a writer, including your current writing process and what you consider to be your writing strengths and weaknesses. Also, please share what you hope to learn as a writer through the process of writing a novel.
3. Please also indicate whether you’d like to meet via video chat (Google+ hangout is Naomi’s preference) or in person if you are local to San Jose, CA or the surrounding area. Also, let Naomi know what weekday evenings might be options for to meet, or if weekdays are an option, what days/times might work on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis.
