Naomi is passionate about sharing her passion for writing with young writers. She offers a number of workshops in connection with the From Sadie’s Sketchbook series, and offers assemblies as well.
Also, through Society of Young Inklings, Naomi offers writing workshops, resources and publishing opportunities for young writers as well as professional development for educators. Naomi founded Society of Young Inklings, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering young writers to unleash the power of their unique writing voices.
Naomi enjoys collaborating with educators directly. In her recent project at Ormondale Elementary in Portola Valley, CA, she worked with teachers to redesign the writing curriculum for grades K-3. Using the methodology which Naomi has developed over the past five years, Writerly Play, the curriculum breaks the writing process down into developmentally appropriate steps in the genres of narrative, informational and opinion writing. The game-based lessons spark creativity and motivate even the most reluctant of writers.
Previously, Naomi was a writer in residence at The Phillips Brooks School, collaborating with educators on various writing units, many of which combined theatre and writing.
